There’s a Final Fantasy 7 Chocobo treat waiting for you on Google

If you open your web browser today, prepare for a delightful surprise. To celebrate the launch of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Google has hidden a charming Chocobo Easter egg. Just type “Chocobo” or “Final Fantasy” into the search bar, and a cute Chocobo icon will appear in the lower right corner of your screen.

Click on the Chocobo icon, and your screen will be filled with lively Chocobos charging across the display, their hooves creating a delightful shake. You’ll even spot Cloud Strife riding one, wielding his iconic Buster Sword as if heading into battle. You can see this exciting animation in the video below.

This playful web-based Easter egg is not the first of its kind to promote video game content. Last January, a mushroom button appeared on Google when users searched for The Last of Us. Activating this button resulted in a visual representation of the cordyceps infection taking over the screen.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is now available exclusively on PlayStation 5. If you are unsure whether this game is right for you, be sure to read the comprehensive review, which describes the game as “an overstuffed but lovable re-imagining” and awarded it four stars.
