How to beat the First Prince of Flowing Sands in Black Myth: Wukong
As the Destined One in Black Myth: Wukong, you will encounter various foes ranging from common frog creatures to a massive wrestler bear. However, one of your most significant challenges in the early hours of Chapter 2 is the First Prince of the Flowing Sands. This formidable opponent, larger and stronger than his father and brother, poses a serious threat, and you’ll need to employ strategies to defeat him.
Preparation for the First Prince of Flowing Sands
When the time comes to confront the First Prince, it’s important to ensure you’re fully prepared. If you’re about to engage him, it’s likely you’ve already triumphed over the Second Prince and the King of Flowing Sands. Here are some crucial points to consider before diving into the battle.
First, focus on upgrading your gear. The Ebongold armor set is the strongest available at this stage of the game, so craft as many parts of it as you can. By equipping at least three pieces of this set, you not only enhance your defense but also gain an additional effect for the Cloud Step skill.
Make sure to spend the Sparks obtained from your previous encounters. Concentrate on upgrading your stances and damage output. Boosting your attack power will significantly help when facing the resistant First Prince. Additionally, consider upgrading your spirits or transformations, as they can provide vital assistance in battle.
One particularly effective spirit to utilize against the First Prince is Guangmou. This spirit summons snakes that inflict poison damage on the enemy, allowing you to maintain a steady stream of damage during the fight.
Strategies for Defeating the First Prince of Flowing Sands
Despite his imposing size and lethal capabilities, defeating the First Prince of Flowing Sands is achievable with the right approach. A general rule for this fight is to avoid standing directly in front of him when he distances himself from you. Instead, capitalize on the moments when he positions himself for an attack to strike back. His movements are predictable, giving you ample time to dodge incoming strikes.
One of the First Prince’s most dangerous attacks occurs when he charges at you with remarkable speed. Initially, you might underestimate his speed due to his size, but his attack is well-telegraphed; he always raises both arms before charging. When you see him lift his arms, it’s time to dodge sideways.
Another common attack you should be aware of is his sweep attack, which comes in two variations. In one, he sweeps his arm outward, and in the other, he raises his right arm before striking. The first variation is easily dodged, while the second gives you an opportunity for a counterattack, as the prince will fall to the ground for a few seconds after executing that move.
While these are his primary attacks, the First Prince can also perform a series of two top-down arm strikes or charge at you if you remain too close. If you try to stay behind him, he may use his tail to push you away, so be cautious of your positioning.
Once you’re familiar with his attacks, it’s time to focus on dealing damage. The best strategy is to target his face, which may seem counterintuitive since you’re often advised to attack weak points. However, the frontal area is less protected compared to his rear armor. Use the Immobilize skill to create openings for attacks and maximize your damage output.
Rewards for Defeating the First Prince of Flowing Sands
Upon defeating the First Prince, you can expect valuable rewards for your efforts. In addition to gaining 1102 experience points and 1010 Will, you will also receive 2x Yarn and 2x Silk.
Moreover, the real prize for conquering this boss is the Arhat Gold Piece, a key item necessary for accessing a secret area in Chapter 2. Similar to the hidden quest in Chapter 1, this area contains a hidden boss that can only be reached after completing a secret mission involving an NPC near Rockrest Flat.
With the First Prince of Flowing Sands defeated, you can now prepare to face an even more challenging adversary, the formidable Yaoguai King, along with the Tiger Vanguard.
