Strength of Steel is a festive event in Pokémon Go that focuses on Steel-types, delivering a plethora of exciting activities and rewards for players. Here’s everything you need to know about the Timed Research quest steps, Collection Challenges, and the associated rewards.

‘Strength of Steel Timed Research’ Quest Steps

The Strength of Steel Timed Research quest is available for a limited time, making it essential to complete it promptly to earn the rewards. Players must finish the quest steps before the event concludes.

Here are the steps and rewards associated with the Strength of Steel Timed Research:

  • Catch 50 Steel-type Pokémon – Reward: Beldum encounter
  • Power up Steel-type Pokémon 15 times – Reward: Togedemaru encounter
  • Evolve 10 Steel-type Pokémon – Reward: Klink encounter
  • Earn 25,000 Stardust – Reward: Skarmory encounter
  • Win 3 raids – Reward: Mawile encounter
  • Catch 7 different species of Steel-type Pokémon – Reward: x3 Metal Coats

Upon completion, players will receive 10,000 XP, one Magnetic Lure Module, and a Pawniard encounter.

Collection Challenges in Pokémon Go

During the Strength of Steel event, players can also participate in three Collection Challenges. Each challenge requires players to catch specific Pokémon within a set time frame to earn rewards.

Heavy Metal Collection Challenge

This challenge requires players to collect the following Pokémon:

  • Aron – In the wild
  • Aggron – Evolve Lairon using 100 Aron Candy (Aron to Lairon requires 25 Aron Candy)
  • Bronzor – In the wild
  • Bronzong – Evolve Bronzor using 50 Bronzor Candy

Completing this challenge rewards players with 5000 Stardust, 100 Mega Aggron Energy, and an Aggron encounter.

This Ore That Collection Challenge

This challenge includes collecting the following Pokémon:

  • Galarian Stunfisk – In the wild or seasonal research task (Earn 3 Candies walking with your buddy)
  • Magnemite – In the wild
  • Magneton – Evolve Magnemite using 25 Magnemite Candy
  • Magnezone – Evolve Magneton using 100 Magnemite Candy within the range of a Magnetic Lure Module

Completing this challenge grants players 5000 Stardust, 100 Mega Steelix Energy, and a Steelix encounter.

Chrome Catch Collection Challenge

The final Collection Challenge consists of the following Pokémon:

  • Nosepass – In the wild
  • Togedemaru – In the wild, one-star raids, or event-exclusive research tasks (‘Catch 10 Steel-type Pokémon’, ‘Power up Steel-type Pokémon’, or ‘Explore 2km’)
  • Skarmory – In the wild or one-star raids
  • Beldum – In the wild or seasonal research task (Make 3 Excellent Throws) or event-exclusive research task (Catch 15 Steel-type Pokémon)

Completing the Chrome Catch challenge awards players with 5000 Stardust, 100 Mega Scizor Energy, and a Scizor encounter.

Field Research Tasks

Players can earn event-exclusive field research tasks by spinning PokéStops during the Strength of Steel event. While these tasks can be saved for later, completing them during the event can help players finish the Collection Challenges.

Here are the Strength of Steel field research tasks:

  • Catch 10 Steel-type Pokémon – Reward: Togedemaru encounter
  • Catch 15 Steel-type Pokémon – Reward: Beldum or Klink encounter
  • Power up Steel-type Pokémon 5 times – Reward: Togedemaru encounter
  • Explore 2km – Reward: Togedemaru encounter
  • Evolve 3 Steel-type Pokémon – Reward: 25 Mega Steelix, Scizor, or Aggron Energy

Mega Lucario Raid Day

A highlight of the Strength of Steel event is the Mega Lucario Raid Day. This event features Mega Lucario in raids, offering players a chance to catch this powerful Pokémon. During the raid day, players can also benefit from several bonuses, including free Raid Passes.

Players can receive five additional free Raid Passes from spinning Gyms during the event hours, along with increased XP and a greater chance of earning Rare Candy XL from in-person raids. Any Lucario caught from these raids will know the Fighting-type Fast Attack, Force Palm.

Additionally, players have the option to purchase an event ticket that unlocks extra bonuses, including additional Raid Passes, guaranteed Rare Candy XL from catching Lucario, and increased rewards from raids.

Event Bonuses

The Strength of Steel event features several bonuses, including triple Stardust from catching Pokémon and double catch candy from Nice Throws or better. Players Level 31 and above will also enjoy an increased chance of earning Candy XL from catching Pokémon.

New shiny Pokémon, including shiny Togedemaru, will also be available during the event. Various Steel-type Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild, enhancing the overall catching experience.
