Pokémon Go Gen 9 Pokémon list released so far, every creature from Scarlet and Violet’s Paldea region listed

Gen 9 consists of 110 Pokémon who will be gradually released in Pokémon Go. Unlike previous generations, the first Gen 9 Pokémon to appear, Roaming Form Gimmighoul, wasn’t actually catchable during its first appearance in the game. Instead, players had to wait roughly three months to add it to their collection.

Gen 9 arrived in the Pokémon universe alongside the release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet for the Nintendo Switch. Its ranks then increased as part of the Pokémon Day celebrations in 2023, and we can also expect to see more new Gen 9 Pokémon in the upcoming DLC, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. This generation includes a variety of original creatures, Paldean variants, and reimagined versions of Pokémon from Gen 1.

Which Gen 9 Pokémon are in Pokémon Go so far

The Gen 9 Pokémon will, like previous generations, be released into Pokémon Go in stages. Their arrival was hinted at during November 2022 when Roaming Form Gimmighoul appeared on the in-game map after players spun special Golden PokéStops. Gimmighoul and Gholdengo were the first Gen 9 Pokémon to be released into Pokémon Go.

Below are the Gen 9 Pokémon currently available in Pokémon Go:

July 2024 (2 released)

• Tandemaus – Normal (Debuted during the Ultra Unlock: Better Together event)
• Maushold – Normal (Evolves from Tandemaus using 50 Candy, debuted during the Ultra Unlock: Better Together event)

April 2024 (2 released)

• Wiglett – Water (Debuted during the Rediscover Kanto event)
• Wugtrio – Water (Evolves from Wiglett using 50 Candy, debuted during the Rediscover Kanto event)

March 2024 (3 released)

• Charcadet – Fire (Debuted during the Pokémon Horizons: The Series Celebration Event)
• Armarouge – Fire / Psychic (Evolves by defeating 30 Psychic-type Pokémon while Charcadet is your buddy and using 50 Charcadet Candy)

What we know about the Gen 9 Pokémon

Originating from the Paldea region, inspired by the Iberian Peninsula, Gen 9 originally introduced 103 Pokémon when Pokémon Scarlet and Violet were released in November 2022. This collection includes new legendary Pokémon, Paldean variants, the Paradox Pokémon, reimagined versions of Gen 1 Pokémon, and three starter Pokémon.

On Pokémon Day 2023, the number of Gen 9 rose to 105 with the release of two new Paradox Pokémon – Walking Wake and Iron Leaves – as part of the version 1.2.0 update for Scarlet and Violet. Five more Gen 9 Pokémon will be introduced in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC for Scarlet and Violet, bringing the total number of Gen 9 Pokémon to 110, including Ogerpon, Terapagos, Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti.

Here are some unique facts about Gen 9:

• Gen 9 is the first generation to have Pokémon with the Bug / Dark, Grass / Fire, and Electric / Fighting type combinations.
• The Paradox Pokémon were first introduced in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, resembling Pokémon from past generations but with unique designs.
• Gen 9 does not include a new set of Fossil Pokémon.
• There are two Paldean regional variants – Paldean Tauros and Paldean Wooper, with three breeds of Paldean Tauros to collect: Aqua, Blaze, and Combat.
• Gen 9 includes several reimagined versions of Gen 1 Pokémon, such as Wiglett and Toadscool, which are considered new Pokémon.
• Dudunsparce and Maushold can evolve into two different forms, with the form determined randomly upon evolution.
• No new baby Pokémon were introduced in Gen 9.
• Gen 9 introduced the Terastallizing mechanic, where each Pokémon has a Tera type, which can differ from their main type.
• Varoom and Revavroom are inspired by internal combustion engines.

Pokémon Go Gen 9 Pokémon list

While the majority of the Gen 9 evolutions in Pokémon Go will require a specific amount of candy, Gen 9 has several special evolution methods. For instance, evolving Gimmighoul into Gholdengo requires collecting 999 Gimmighoul Coins. Roaming Form Gimmighoul, which may grant coins, only appears for 30 minutes after using the Coin Bag.

The only way to recharge the Coin Bag is to send a Postcard from Pokémon Go to Scarlet or Violet by connecting Pokémon Go to the Nintendo Switch.

Other Pokémon, like Annihilape, Kingambit, and Farigiraf, require specific moves for their evolution, while Cetitan and Bellibolt need specific evolution stones in the main series. Charcadet evolves into either Armarouge or Ceruledge depending on the type of armor given. Finizen will only evolve when using a Union Circle to visit another player’s game.

It remains to be seen if Pokémon Go will introduce unique evolution methods for these Pokémon or if new evolution stones will be added. For instance, in the main series, Pawmot, Brambleghast, and Rabsca evolve after walking 1000 steps in the Let’s Go mode, so similar distance requirements could be expected in Pokémon Go.

Additionally, it’s possible that Greavard can only evolve into Houndstone at night in Pokémon Go. Gen 9 also includes Maushold and Dudunsparce, whose form will be randomly selected upon their evolution, making it interesting to see if this mechanic is preserved in Pokémon Go.

It’s important to note that the five Gen 9 Pokémon from The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC have not been listed, as their typing and National Dex numbers are not yet known. They will be added once this information is available.
