Pokémon Go Gen 7 Pokémon list released so far, and every creature from Sun and Moon’s Alola region listed
Gen 7 introduced 86 new Pokémon, which have been gradually released into Pokémon Go. Unlike previous generations, such as Gen 1 through Gen 6, the Alolan variants originating from the Alola Pokédex were made available long before the first Gen 7 Pokémon were introduced in Pokémon Go. The Gen 7 Pokémon made their debut in the Pokémon universe in Pokémon Sun and Moon for the Nintendo 3DS in 2016.
Below is a comprehensive list of all the Gen 7 Pokémon released so far in Pokémon Go, along with a complete Gen 7 Pokémon list to keep you informed about which creatures are on their way.
Which Gen 7 Pokémon are in Pokémon Go so far
The Gen 7 Pokémon are being released in stages, similar to past generations. However, the Alolan variants have been available in Pokémon Go for some time. Alolan variants are Pokémon from Gen 1 that have different appearances and typings in the Alola region. For instance, Vulpix is an ice-type Pokémon instead of a fire-type, and its evolution, Ninetales, is an ice and fairy-type Pokémon.

What we know about the Gen 7 Pokémon
Originating from the Alola region, inspired by the Hawaiian Islands, Gen 7 introduced 86 new Pokémon along with 18 Alolan variants when Pokémon Sun and Moon were released. This generation includes the traditional three starter Pokémon, 11 legendary Pokémon, five mythical Pokémon, and the Ultra Beasts.
Here are some interesting facts that make Gen 7 unique:
- Several Gen 8 Pokémon, including Wooloo, were released before any Gen 7 Pokémon in Pokémon Go.
- Alolan forms were the first regional variants to appear in the Pokémon series, featuring new versions of classic Gen 1 Pokémon.
- The Ultra Beasts, a group of extradimensional Pokémon from Ultra Space, debuted in Gen 7. There are 11 Ultra Beasts, each incredibly powerful.
- Mimikyu wears a Pikachu disguise, hoping to find a friend. However, those who glimpse beneath its rag are said to meet a painful fate, suggesting Mimikyu’s true form is an eldritch abomination.
- Gen 7 is the first generation to introduce a legendary Pokémon evolution tree, with Cosmog evolving into Cosmoem and then, depending on the game version, either Solgaleo or Lunala.
- Minior can change into one of seven different colors when its shield is down.
- Sandygast has the power to mind control anyone who puts their hand in its mouth, forcing them to build its body bigger, trapping them in a sandcastle nightmare.
Pokémon Go Gen 7 Pokémon list
The majority of the Gen 7 evolutions in Pokémon Go require you to collect a specific amount of candy. However, there are some Pokémon with special requirements tied to their evolutions.
One such Pokémon is Crabrawler, which in the main series evolves into Crabominable only on Mount Lanakila. It remains to be seen if this location-based evolution will translate into a special requirement in Pokémon Go or if you’ll simply need to collect enough Crabrawler candy.
Another special Gen 7 evolution is Salandit, which only evolves into Salazzle if it is female.
Notably, Rockruff can evolve into one of three different forms of Lycanroc – Midday, Dusk, and Midnight – depending on specific requirements in the main series. Currently, the Midday and Midnight forms are available in Pokémon Go, and the form you receive depends on what time of day you evolve Rockruff.
Lycanroc is not the only Gen 7 Pokémon with multiple forms; Oricorio is a flying-type Pokémon whose appearance and typing change based on which Alola island you catch it on. We will have to wait and see how this Pokémon and its various forms are distributed in Pokémon Go, but the goal remains to catch them all!
