World of Wonders: Taken Over invites players to engage with Team Rocket’s latest antics in Pokémon Go. As Team Rocket attempts to seize control once again, players can expect a variety of bonuses and challenges during this exciting event.

Throughout the event, you will have the opportunity to participate in the World of Wonders: Taken Over timed research quest and tackle event-exclusive research tasks. There’s even a chance to hatch a shiny Sandile!

This event also introduces a new Rocket special research quest titled It’s a Rocket World, alongside updates to the Grunts and the teams of the Rocket Leaders and Giovanni.

‘World of Wonders Taken Over’ Timed Research Quest Steps and Rewards

The ‘World of Wonders: Taken Over’ timed research quest runs until Sunday, March 31st, at 11:59 PM (local time). To reap the rewards, complete the quest before the deadline, as it will disappear afterward. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Catch 5 Dark-type Pokémon – 500 XP
  • Catch 10 Dark-type Pokémon – 1000 XP
  • Catch 15 Dark-type Pokémon – 1500 XP
  • Catch 20 Dark-type Pokémon – 2000 XP
  • Catch 25 Dark-type Pokémon – 2500 XP

Rewards: Vullaby, 5 Hyper Potions, and 5 Revives

Step 2 of 2

  • Catch 6 Shadow Pokémon – 3 Pinap Berries
  • Catch 12 Shadow Pokémon – 5 Pinap Berries
  • Purify 6 Shadow Pokémon – 7 Pinap Berries

Rewards: Pawniard encounter, 5 Max Potions, and 5 Max Revives

World of Wonders Taken Over Field Research Tasks

As you spin PokéStops during the World of Wonders: Taken Over event, you can earn a variety of event-exclusive field research tasks. While these tasks can be saved for later, it’s beneficial to complete them during the event for rewards that assist with the It’s a Rocket World special research quest.

Field Research Tasks

  • Defeat 1 Team Go Rocket Grunt – 1 Mysterious Component
  • Defeat 2 Team Go Rocket Grunts – Sableye or Inkay encounter
  • Defeat 4 Team Go Rocket Grunts – Vullaby or Deino encounter
  • Defeat a Team Go Rocket Leader – Vullaby or Pawniard encounter
  • Purify 3 Shadow Pokémon – 1 Charged TM or 1 Fast TM

Everything You Need to Know About World of Wonders Taken Over

As the title suggests, World of Wonders: Taken Over signifies another Team Go Rocket invasion in Pokémon Go. This event includes Team Rocket bonuses running until March 31st, allowing players to use a Charged TM to make Shadow Pokémon forget Frustration. Additionally, Team Rocket balloons and PokéStop invasions will appear more frequently.

New challenges await in the It’s a Rocket World special research quest, where players will face off against Giovanni and have the opportunity to catch a Shadow Groudon.

Along with Shadow Groudon, several new Shadow Pokémon are now available, including:

  • Shadow Pidgey (can evolve into Shadow Pidgeotto and Pidgeot)
  • Shadow Darumaka (can evolve into Shadow Darmanitan)
  • Shadow Gothita (can evolve into Shadow Gothorita and Gothitelle)
  • Shadow Solosis (can evolve into Shadow Duosion and Reuniclus)

The event also introduces shiny Sandile, along with shiny Krokorok and Krookodile. Sandile can be obtained from 12km eggs, alongside the following Pokémon:

  • Larvitar
  • Sandile
  • Pawniard
  • Vullaby
  • Deino
  • Pancham
  • Salandit
  • Varoom

Shadow Mewtwo will also be available in Shadow Raids on March 30th and 31st. During this event, Shadow Raikou will not appear. Players can expect to encounter the following Pokémon in Shadow Raids:

  • One Star: Shadow Drowzee, Shadow Poliwag, Shadow Barboach, Shadow Foongus
  • Three Star: Shadow Hitmontop, Shadow Wobbuffet, Shadow Sneasel
  • Five Star: Shadow Mewtwo

The following Pokémon will increase in wild encounter rates during the event:

  • Murkrow
  • Sableye
  • Purrloin
  • Scraggy
  • Zorua
  • Vullaby
  • Deino
  • Inkay

Additionally, there is a paid timed research quest available for £1.99 or equivalent pricing in your region. Keep in mind that this purchase is nonrefundable and cannot be made using PokéCoins, but it can be gifted to friends. Make sure to complete this quest by March 31st at 11:59 PM (local time) to earn the associated rewards.

Throughout the event, PokéStop Showcases will also be running, and a new avatar pose—Poké Ball Throw Pose—will be available in the in-game shop.
