Pokémon Go Winter Holiday Part 1 and Part 2, including Winter Wishes quest steps and best Choose Path choice

The Winter Holiday event has returned in Pokémon Go, featuring two exciting parts! Players can look forward to catching new Pokémon, completing unique quests, and enjoying event-exclusive bonuses.

During the Winter Holiday event, players can catch two new Gen 9 Pokémon: Cetoddle and Cetitan, along with four new costume Pokémon. While hunting for these Pokémon, trainers can complete event-exclusive field research tasks and engage in the Winter Wishes quest. This quest is a branching mission, offering different paths based on player choices, which we’ve detailed below.

‘Winter Wishes’ Quest Steps in Pokémon Go

The Winter Wishes quest is available throughout the Winter Holiday event, allowing ample time to complete it and unlock its bonuses. The quest requires players to choose between two paths: one offering double Catch XP and the other providing double Catch Stardust. This choice will impact the additional bonuses unlocked during the event, so think carefully before making a decision, as it cannot be changed later.

Below are the steps and rewards for the Winter Wishes quest prior to making your path choice:

‘Winter Wishes’ Step 1 of 2

  • Catch 5 Pokémon – 1 Glacial Lure Module
  • Spin 3 PokéStops or Gyms – Holiday Attire Pikachu encounter
  • Power up Pokémon 5 times – 2 Silver Pinap Berries

Rewards: 500 XP and 500 Stardust.

‘Winter Wishes’ Step 2 of 2

  • Catch 10 Pokémon – Holiday Scarf Spheal encounter
  • Catch 25 Pokémon – Holiday Hat Eevee encounter
  • Catch 40 Ice-type Pokémon – Lapras encounter
  • Catch 8 different species of Ice-type Pokémon – Holiday Outfit Stantler
  • Depending on Path choice:
    • x2 Catch XP: Earn 25,000 XP – Cetoddle encounter
    • x2 Catch Stardust: Earn 7,500 Stardust – Cetoddle encounter
  • Send 25 Gifts to friends – Holiday Attire Pikachu

Rewards: Galarian Mr. Mime encounter and, based on your path choice, either 1 Lucky Egg (for x2 Catch XP) or 1 Star Piece (for x2 Catch Stardust).

Best Choose Path in Winter Wishes

Choosing the best path in the Winter Wishes quest depends on your goals during the Winter Holiday event. If you’re looking to boost your XP and advance to a new level, the x2 Catch XP path is the ideal choice. On the other hand, if you’re focused on powering up your Pokémon’s CP, the x2 Catch Stardust path will be more beneficial.

For example, selecting x2 Catch XP can significantly help in reaching higher levels, especially when combined with a Lucky Egg for extra XP. If you opt for the x2 Catch Stardust path, make sure to use a Star Piece to maximize your Stardust gains during the event.

Throughout the Winter Holiday event, players can collect event-exclusive field research tasks by spinning PokéStops. These tasks can be completed at any time, even after the event ends. Here are the current Winter Holiday field research tasks:
