Dragon Ball Sparking!
Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero boasts an extensive lineup of characters, featuring up to 182 playable fighters available at launch. However, many of these characters will be initially locked (marked with a padlock icon), which is a deliberate design choice, so there’s no need for concern.
To access characters like Goku (GT), Videl, Cell Jr., and Monster Vegeta, players need to know the unlocking methods. There are various ways to achieve this in this edition of the game. If you want to learn how to unlock your favorite characters, keep reading for a detailed guide.
Ways to Unlock Characters
Here are the main methods for unlocking characters in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero:
- Purchasing from the Store: All characters can eventually be acquired from the store using zeni, the in-game currency.
- Unlocking via Episode Battles: Completing chapters and sagas in story mode allows players to obtain certain characters without spending zeni.
- Finishing Additional Battles: Completing specific additional battles can also reward players with characters.
- Tournament Rewards: Participating in offline World Tournaments will provide players with several characters for free.
- Wishes from Super Shenron: One of the dragon’s wishes can unlock Goku Black or Fused Zamasu.
When you unlock a character, you also gain access to all their variants. For instance, unlocking Goku (GT) will give you access to all of his transformations immediately.
The best strategy to unlock all characters is to play through episode battles, complete additional battles, and win at least once in each World Tournament to claim rewards. This approach allows you to unlock many characters without needing to buy them.
For characters that remain locked after these methods, you’ll need to purchase them from the store using zeni. Keep in mind that all locked characters can be acquired in the store, but some may only be available after reaching certain player levels. New characters become available for purchase as you reach player levels 10 and 20, including Goku Black and Fused Zamasu, meaning you don’t necessarily need to invoke Super Shenron to obtain them.
Purchaseable Locked Characters
As mentioned, all locked characters in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero can be bought from the store, offering a total of 47 different fighters. Buying these characters will also unlock all their variants and transformations.
Initially, not all characters will be available in the store. You must reach player level 10 for most of them to appear. The final two characters (Goku Black and Fused Zamasu) become accessible at player level 20.
