How to unlock Goku’s Sparking episodes in Dragon Ball Sparking!

Goku serves as one of the primary characters in the battle mode of Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, the narrative mode of the spiritual successor to the Budokai Tenkaichi series. This game reintroduces the possibility of delving into alternative storylines and non-canonical events from the manga and anime, referred to as Sparking episodes, which are often called ‘what if’ episodes.

This guide will outline the requirements, conditions, and steps needed to access the alternative routes in Goku’s narrative. Goku features a total of three Sparking episodes, which are detailed below:

Unlocking the Sparking Episode “Codo con Codo”

The first Sparking episode you can unlock in Goku’s journey is titled “Codo con codo”, which becomes available during the Saiyan Saga in Chapter 1.

• To unlock this unique episode, begin by entering the phase “¡¿El dúo más poderoso de la Tierra?!”. At this point, you’ll need to make a dialogue choice.
• When prompted, select the option “Fight Solo”.
• Advance to the phase “Raditz vs. the Turtle School”.
• During your confrontation with Raditz (with Krillin as your ally), you must meet the secondary condition to access this Sparking episode.
• Your objective is to defeat Raditz as swiftly as possible before Piccolo can charge his special beam.

You’ll know that Piccolo is preparing his attack when he issues a warning. If you take too long to defeat Raditz, you’ll revert to the original mission line, which you want to avoid. Therefore, it’s essential to be quick (you can explore various strategies to assist you in this).

If you successfully meet the secondary condition, you will begin the episode “Codo con Codo,” which is relatively lengthy for a Sparking episode. However, there are no additional branching paths from this point; simply defeat the subsequent opponents to complete the episode.

Unlocking the Sparking Episode “Superando los Límites”

The second Sparking episode in Goku’s journey is titled “Superando los límites”, and, like the first, it can be accessed during the Saiyan Saga in Chapter 1.

• In the phase “¡¿El dúo más poderoso de la Tierra?!”, choose the dialogue option that says “Collaborate with Piccolo”.
• This will lead you to the phase “Rematch and Outcome”, where you will face Raditz again.
• In this battle, there are two possible outcomes, but only one will unlock the Sparking episode.
• As with the previous episode, you need to defeat Raditz quickly.

Remember that if you take too long to defeat Raditz, the fight will conclude naturally, and you’ll continue with the original storyline. You should play on the default difficulty and act swiftly. Pay attention to Piccolo’s dialogue, as he may hint at whether Goku has developed a new combat technique. After this line, you’ll have about a minute to reduce Raditz’s health.

Unlocking the Sparking Episode “El Futuro Cambiante”

The third and final Sparking episode in Goku’s journey is titled “El futuro cambiante”, which can be accessed during the Android and Cell Saga in Chapter 3.

• To start this episode’s path, you must play the phase “Hyperbolic Time Chamber”.
• In this phase, select the dialogue option that states “Go Help”.
• This choice will lead you directly to the phase “Defeat Cell!”.
• In this battle, you’ll face Cell’s first form, but two different paths can unfold based on how the battle goes.
• To meet the secondary requirement, you must avoid being hit by Cell’s Solar Flare attack.

Cell can execute his Solar Flare at any point in this battle. This attack can disorient you for a few seconds, so it’s crucial to keep the pressure on him without allowing him much time to react. Defeating him quickly is an effective way to minimize the chances of him using this attack.

Even if he does use the Solar Flare and it doesn’t directly affect you, you can still defeat him to meet the condition and unlock the Sparking episode. After activating it, you’ll follow a linear path until you reach the end.
