Citlalí in Genshin Impact: How to get it and skills

Citlalí is a character in Genshin Impact that players can use during their quests. To create a balanced team, understanding each character’s strengths is crucial, as well as knowing which ones work best together. This guide covers how to acquire Citlalí, her features, and her distinct skills, talents, and constellations to help you maximize her potential and develop an effective strategy.

How to Acquire Citlalí in Genshin Impact

Similar to other characters in the game, Citlalí can be obtained through the Gacha system’s Wishes, utilizing your collected Fates or Primogems. However, due to her high rarity, the chances of obtaining Citlalí are lower compared to other characters. She is especially more likely to appear in limited or event banners.

The first chance to acquire Citlalí will be through a promotional gacha banner named “Whispers of the Stars,” which will launch with the first half of version 5.3 on January 1, 2025. During this event, players will have an increased likelihood of obtaining her.

Characteristics of Citlalí

Here are the core details about Citlalí and her key characteristics:

“The great shaman and the abu Itztli of the Nightfall Augurs, respected by all the people of her tribe.”

  • Rarity: 5 stars.
  • Weapon Type: Catalyst.
  • Element / Vision: Cryo.
  • Role in Team: Support.
  • Region: Natlan.

Talents and Constellations of Citlalí

Next, we will detail Citlalí’s unique combat abilities.

Talents

The following are Citlalí’s normal attacks, talents, and elemental skills. Keep in mind that these can be unlocked as you level up the character, enhancing her power.

  • Normal Attack: Spiritism Shadowcatcher:
    • Normal Attack: Performs up to 3 consecutive strikes that deal Cryo damage.
    • Charged Attack: Enters aiming mode, consuming stamina to launch a frost star that inflicts Cryo damage on enemies in its path.
    • Plunging Attack: Calls forth ice power and plunges from the air to hit the ground, dealing Cryo damage to surrounding enemies upon impact.
  • Black Star Frostcatcher: Creates a white obsidian shield and summons the (allegedly) fearsome tzitzímitl of black obsidian Itzpapa, dealing Cryo damage within its area of effect. The shield’s damage absorption is based on Citlalí’s Elemental Mastery, with a 250% effectiveness for Cryo damage absorption. Upon creating the shield, Cryo will momentarily apply to Citlalí. After using this skill, Citlalí receives 24 noctambulous points and enters a nocturnal blessing state, which lasts until Itzpapa departs the battlefield.
    • Itzpapa: Accompanies the character. If Citlalí has at least 50 noctambulous points, Itzpapa enters a state of “opalescent fire,” continuously consuming noctambulous points to unleash a frost storm that trails behind the character, damaging nearby enemies. This state concludes when Citlalí’s noctambulous points are exhausted.
  • Astral Decree: Calls forth “allies” from the starry sky and vast earth to unleash a frost tempest that strikes the area in front of her, dealing Cryo damage and restoring some noctambulous points to Citlalí. It also summons a spirit skull near each enemy in the vicinity (up to 3). The skull will explode after a time, inflicting Cryo damage in the area and recovering additional noctambulous points for Citlalí.
  • Enigmatic Chants: When in an area with any Natlan flammable mechanics, causing a nocturnal explosion restores 20 flammable points. This effect will not activate in domains, cross-domain, or the Spiral Abyss.
  • Night Grace: Mirrors, Smoke, and Winds: In an area with Natlan flammable mechanics, “Nocturnal Transmission Citlalí” can be activated. When at a certain height in the air, switching to Citlalí enables her to jump exceptionally high and summon the “tzitzímitl of white obsidian Citlalín” to float above. Your team can only activate Nocturnal Transmission once every 10 seconds. While aiming, Citlalí enters a “spiritism” state, allowing interaction with mystical markings to extract their information and power.
  • Freezing Rain of Mamaloaco: While Itzpapa is active, after a nearby team character triggers a Frozen or Melt reaction, the Pyro and Hydro resistance of affected enemies decreases by 20% for 12 seconds. Additionally, Citlalí recovers 16 noctambulous points. This can only happen once every 8 seconds.
  • Star Garb of Itzpapálotl: During the Elemental Skill, Black Star Frostcatcher, the frost storm’s damage from Itzpapa increases by an amount equivalent to 90% of Citlalí’s Elemental Mastery. During the Ultimate Skill, Astral Decree, the frost tempest damage rises by an amount equivalent to 1200% of Citlalí’s Elemental Mastery. Furthermore, when a nearby team member triggers a nocturnal explosion, Citlalí recovers 4 noctambulous points.

Constellations

These are Citlalí’s six levels of Constellation and passive abilities (remember that you need to obtain the item Stella Fortuna to unlock each one):

  • Radiant Blades of Centzon Mimixcoah: When using the Elemental Skill, Black Star Frostcatcher, Citlalí gains the “starry cloak” effect until Itzpapa is removed from the battlefield. During this effect, she acquires 10 charges of “star blades,” which causes any nearby character (except Citlalí) to consume 1 charge when dealing damage with a Normal, Charged, or Plunging Attack or Elemental or Ultimate Skill, increasing the damage dealt by 200% of Citlalí’s Elemental Mastery. When a nearby team member triggers a Frozen or Melt reaction, Citlalí gains 3 additional star blade charges. This can only happen once every 8 seconds.
  • Heartdevourer Patrol: Citlalí’s Elemental Mastery increases by 125 points, and the Mastery of other characters under the protection of the white obsidian shield or following Itzpapa increases by 250 points. Moreover, using the Elemental Skill, Black Star Frostcatcher, grants a white obsidian shield to nearby active characters. It also enhances the effect of the passive talent “Freezing Rain of Mamaloaco.” While Itzpapa is active, after a nearby team member triggers a Frozen or Melt reaction, the Pyro and Hydro resistance of affected enemies decreases further by an additional 20%. This effect lasts for 12 seconds and requires the passive talent “Freezing Rain of Mamaloaco” for activation.
  • Cloud Serpent Crest: Increases the skill level of Black Star Frostcatcher by +3, which can be raised to Level 15.
  • Renegades’ Coffin: During the Elemental Skill, Black Star Frostcatcher, striking an enemy with Itzpapa’s frost storm will summon an extra black star spirit skull. When this skull detonates, it inflicts Cryo damage in the area, equivalent to 1800% of Citlalí’s Elemental Mastery, restoring 16 noctambulous points and 8 Elemental Energy. This can occur once every 8 seconds, and this damage is not considered Ultimate Skill damage.
  • Nemontemi’s Curse: Increases the skill level of Astral Decree by +3, which can be raised to Level 15.
  • Teoiztac’s Secret Pact: When summoning Itzpapa with the Elemental Skill, Black Star Frostcatcher, it will remain in the opalescent fire state permanently, even when noctambulous points are depleted. Furthermore, using the Elemental Skill consumes all noctambulous points, and while active, Itzpapa will continuously consume noctambulous points. For every noctambulous point consumed, Citlalí gains 1 point of “secret numerology.” A maximum of 40 points can be obtained. For each point of secret numerology, Citlalí’s damage increases by 2.5%, and all nearby team members receive a 1.5% Pyro and Hydro Damage Bonus. When Itzpapa is removed from the battlefield or the Elemental Skill is used again, all secret numerology points will be lost.
