Completing the Veil Guard 100% in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Achieving 100% Completion in the Veil Guard in Dragon Age: The Veilguard is an exciting endeavor that involves navigating a range of challenges. This guide provides comprehensive strategies and tips to help you reach full completion as you progress through the game.

The mission you will undertake is titled Completing the Veil Guard. It becomes available after you finish Deadly Wings or its alternative if you opted to safeguard Minrathous. Within this guide, you’ll discover essential insights to successfully tackle each section, along with information regarding collectibles, side quests, and narrative choices.

Throughout this mission, it’s important to note that Lucanis or Neve will be unavailable depending on your choice of city for assistance. Additionally, the city you chose not to support will have restricted fast travel points, which you will need to reactivate. However, you will still have access to chests and collectibles, and will not be locked out of city factions. This change is mainly narrative, though you might encounter enemies on the streets. Be aware that this part of the guide is quite lengthy, but it is packed with altars, chests, lost treasures, and memories.

Your first task is to observe a mission marker with a time constraint over Davrin; head there right away.

As you progress, you will encounter several decisions that can affect the mission’s outcome:

  • Make sure Davrin acts as expected.
  • Verify he is in the correct location – this option has been selected.
  • Reflect on the challenges he has endured.
  • Investigate the origins of Assan for additional context.
  • Learn the story of the griffons for further background.

After this, you’ll have multiple dialogue choices:

  • Discuss their right to better treatment – this option has been selected.
  • Assert that you will locate them.
  • Claim that tackling problems is your specialty.
  • Indicate that you have seen worse situations.
  • Express fear – this option has been selected.
  • Argue that it isn’t as serious.
  • State that there are no alternatives.

Your next destination is Port City, which in this scenario will be in chaos. Bring along Davrin and the character with the lowest relationship to strengthen their bond. While there are secondary markers, we will temporarily overlook them to restore fast travel zones and utilize Assan to activate mechanisms involving moving boxes. If you have explored, you will find these marked with a yellow padlock, signifying they are usable.

Upon entering the Shadow Dragons’ library, locate a document on the central table. In the next room, an elite enemy will appear, and defeating this foe will trigger a side quest, which we will skip for now. To avoid advancing that quest, simply exit to the street without examining anything along the way.

Next, proceed to the mechanism depicted in the image above and break it with the griffon. Once you ascend, you will find a document on a table, a memory titled The Shadow of Our Dragon at the back, and inside the chest will be a Flying Comet. As mentioned earlier, ignore the side quest marker for the time being and move south to activate the plaza beacon. There is nothing new to discover further south, so there is no reason to continue descending.

When exploring the area east of the beacon near the Shadow Dragons’ lair, you will encounter a blue barrier obstructing your path to the north. You will notice numerous boxes in the area. Destroy these to uncover a document that will advance the side quest.

Once the area is cleared, proceed north to the temple, activating the entrance beacon and those located on the upper floor, near the southeast of the altar of Fen’Harel, which still requires completion.

Next, head toward the high zone until you reach the simple mechanism marker to the east, past the tavern. You can break it with Assan, of course.

You will notice that reaching the very top is impossible. Instead, you need to use your ranged attack on the folding ladder at the edge to ascend. Inside, you will discover a chest containing a Challenging Armor and the memory Declaration of Freedom. Return to the Fen’Harel altar and drop down the slope next to the statue.

Now, make your way down to find a figurine in the water along with several zombies. Most importantly, on one side of this pit, you will encounter a mass of corruption. Destroy it, and Quyn the Thunderlord will appear, who is susceptible to your attacks.

While battling him, enemies will break through a wall from the south, so make sure to defeat them all. Collect the essence of the champion for later use at the corresponding door in The Crossroads. For now, proceed south to an elevator that will take you to a chest containing a Long Gabardine and a ladder to return above.

Return to the main temple room, at the north exit of the bridge, and look in the southeast corner. There, rather discreetly next to the chamber we previously explored as part of the story, is an exit that leads down to the temple garden, which passes beneath the aforementioned bridge.

Inside, you will find enemies, a document, a couple of common items, a barrier you cannot dispel, and a block of dracolite that will be marked on the map for future reference.

Now you have a few side quests (initially, you will only see two, but don’t worry, more will appear):

  • Complete A Cloak over the Light.
  • Complete Rituals for the Uplifted.
  • Complete Corners in the Catacombs.
  • Complete The Deal of the Serpent’s Nest.
  • Complete How to Train a Griffon.

From the point where you finish Davrin’s mission, ascend the stairs to the right of the beacon and turn left. You will find a grate with a lever on the right side; activate it.

Cross the trunk and use the barrier crystal to activate the lightning one on the other side. Aim towards the south, at a base on a stone column.

Remember those rocks we moved shortly after arriving? Return to that platform and approach the northern cliff to see other rocks you can move to reach further.

You will see a chest, a deactivated lightning magic and, if you get close to the edge, a lightning magic pointing at a wall. Go down and focus it on the deactivated one; you will see a power base on the wall that will activate the one above. Return up and guide it to a power base to the right, below, near the water.

If you go to that point, you will see that you have activated another lightning, aim it at one of the bases on the central island.

Next to the lightning, there is a statue and some poisonous spores. Among the boxes is an energy crystal; place it in the base next to the lightning you just used and return to the previous lightning to focus it on a last base on a column in the central island.

This will activate a bridge to the central island, where, after defeating a miniboss, you can access the first lost treasure in time from the Arlathan Forest, the Iron Veil helm. Don’t forget to examine the orb behind the chest… there’s something fishy here.

Now that you have completed that segment, head back to the north beacon and follow the northeast path north to find another area of this section.

Start by going all the way to the west across the trunk of a tree, ignoring the staircase that goes up north. You will be able to lower a ladder with a ranged attack and go up to a beacon and a door blocked by corruption.

To the left of the corruption, there is an alley where you can ascend using Harding’s power. You will see a cyst that you must destroy, and on the other side, a plaza with several cysts and spawns. Clear everything. Inside the large cyst is Entarus the Revived, a champion. He will drop the Faded Glory Essence.

Once you have cleared the entire area, search for a document in one corner of the lower area, along with some rocks you can lift in another corner.

This will allow you to ascend some handrails to another cyst of corruption that you must destroy to reach the second lost treasure from the Arlathan Forest, containing the Shield Singular Bulwark touched by the Veil. Additionally, next to it, there is a crystal of energy; grab it and step back a few paces to find a base where you can place it. You will now be able to exit through the door to the beacon. If you go to the north of the beacon, you can use Bellara’s skill to fix a power base, so do that.

For now, there is nothing we can do with it. Do you remember the staircase to the north that we ignored when we came here? Go to that point to activate the last altar of the evanuris in the region.

Some of the objectives are to the northeast, precisely the direction we are heading. Eliminate the enemies, and you will soon reach the power base that we repaired earlier. When you arrive, go east until you see some stairs. Go up to find a chest and a crystal of energy that we will of course use in the base.

You have deployed a bridge that serves no purpose, except to satisfy the need to complete everything. If you go back up the stairs to where the crystal was, facing the edge, you will see some wooden scaffolding. Head there to find an icon of Fen’Harel’s altar, which is… where is it? Well, to reveal it, climb the scaffolding and look up.

Blast the barrels to activate the last Fen’Harel altar in the region. The figurine is one of the easiest to find; just follow the beast’s gaze, and right after descending the stairs, when looking towards where it was looking, you will see the silhouette of the wolf at the end of the path. We are not done with this excursion just yet. Head to The Crossroads, and now you can open the Door of Lost Eras to begin your next adventure.

By the way, one of the ghost merchants in the plaza sells the memory Paragon terez: The Guardian, so buy it before opening the door. There are many new items available from the vendors in this plaza, so be sure to browse for anything of interest. After crossing the door, eliminate the venatori, and you will see an altar of the evanuris that you still cannot access.

Make your way west to a handrail that seems to descend from the platform. Go around the ledge, and you will find a point where you can use Lucanis’s power to reach a chest containing Splendor of Arlathan and a cloud of necrosis; back away when you open it. Step back and go up the stairs to the north to find some cliffs leading to the first red crystals that you need to destroy. Afterward, at the edge, you will see another point where you can use Lucanis’s power. Platforms will appear, allowing you to cross to the next series of crystals.

Destroy the crystals, lower the ladder, and open the chest containing a Long Coat of the Wanderer before using Lucanis’s power again to drop down to the roof of the evanuris altar area. You can see the last game of crystals to the west. You can now go down, and after defeating the enemies, destroy the crystals of the machine, which will lower the gate to the altar… and awaken the Burning Blood Forge. You should have defeated one of these in the port of Minrathous; it is vulnerable to Ice and can be quite aggressive when launching energy bolts.

After activating and completing the altar, head south. You can lower the ladder by using your ranged attack. You will arrive at a plaza filled with many enemies, a document, a minor chest, and more red crystals. Finish off all the enemies and start checking the area. There is a door you can open from this side to clear a shortcut. The memory The Way of Peace is also in the southeast corner.

You will also see the fourth altar of Fen’Harel in the region. To obtain the figurine, ascend the handrail to the right of the altar; you will find a point where you can use Lucanis’s power and directly reach it. Return to the top of the ladder, where you will need to eliminate some mages, and you will likely have already spotted the chest containing a Veil-Touched War Axe.

At this point, you can also collect a wolf figurine that is part of the Repentance of the Terrible Wolf, a mission tied to the memories and flashbacks of Solas that we have already undertaken… only here you receive the figurine without further ado.

We still have the Door of the Faded Glory, for which we also have champion essence.

When you open it, head north across the bridge and lower the stairs to find another wolf figurine, but it’s a trap. It will explode in a necrotic cloud, and you will need to defeat several enemies, so do so. Ignore the stone arch and head east to a statue at the edge of the cliff. Turn it to face the east, and you should deploy two bridges, one of them towards the northeast. If they do not deploy, go around the area to reach the other side, where there is another statue that needs to face the west.

When you cross to the north, there will be more enemies. You will also find the last altar of the evanuris in The Crossroads.

On the western edge is another statue with a lever. Make it look to the west and return to the central area and head north. Turn right as soon as you cross the stone arch, and before the handrail, you will find the memory The Deceptive Wolf.

As you turn the corner, you will find the last altar of Fen’Harel in The Crossroads. Activate it and climb the handrail. Now approach the edge, and you will see another statue with a lever; make it face the east (towards the one we just turned) to make bridges appear leading to the northern islet.

Climb the stairs, and you will see the wolf’s specter where the figurine is located, a bunch of enemies, and a chest containing a cloud of necrosis and a Trevisian Dagger. Additionally, at the altar, you will find the last Wolf Figurine. If you have followed the guide up to this point, you will complete the subquest Repentance of the Terrible Wolf.

But that’s not all! If you continue this chapter of the Captain Obvious Fantastic Excursions, you will also discover another lost treasure in time, which you might have spotted earlier but couldn’t open at that moment. Head to the Cims of Athim area, at the northern tip of The Crossroads, and go to the treasure marker you should have seen the last time you were here. It’s straightforward to reach, just follow the path; you can’t miss it.

This treasure has a catch: you must kill 50 dark spawns in this area, but there aren’t enough. To do this, eliminate all the spawns you see, then save your game and reload. The enemies will respawn, and it will count the ones you’ve already eliminated until you reach 50. Inside the chest, you will find the Ring Singular Fangs of the Black City. Before continuing, return to the lighthouse to upgrade the Guard’s workshop.

And you might say, “Wow, Captain Obvious; thanks for the excursion. Now I’m off to continue with the plot,” and I would respond, “Where do you think you’re going, aspiring dragon hunter?” We still have side missions to complete. Yes, this excursion has gotten out of hand, but you’re now stronger than… a tetra brick of wine left in the sun for hours. Don’t try it; seriously. The authorities at the Solitary Crystal Palace do not recommend dragon hunting if you have consumed alcohol.

  • Complete Explorers of the Veil in Trouble.
  • Complete Spies at Home.

Now, finally, head to the meditation room of the lighthouse and interact with the table to see a sequence where you will have dialogue options, of course.

There will still be more conversations before wrapping things up.
