While it may seem logical that progressing further should yield better loot, the game’s mechanics are a bit more intricate, requiring you to adjust your approach.

To efficiently acquire superior gear, keep a few simple guidelines in mind. First, it’s important to understand the difference between level and rarity, as both improve in distinct ways, and leveling up impacts gear differently.

How to Acquire Higher-Level Gear

At the Guardians’ Workshop, you can upgrade your weapons and armor by using the base item along with the necessary materials for each upgrade tier. Items can be enhanced to levels like +1, +2, +3, and so on. The maximum upgrade level is determined by the workshop’s level (for example, with a workshop at level 4, you can enhance items only up to +4). You can boost the workshop’s level by submitting memories, but that’s only part of the overall strategy. The workshop level also determines the level of gear you can find.

This means that as the workshop’s level increases, the quality of gear you encounter will also improve. The level affects the basic stats of the equipment, such as damage output and defensive capabilities.

How to Obtain Gear with Higher Rarity

Gear is usually categorized by rarity levels indicated by colors: white, green, blue, purple, orange, and red, which range from lowest to highest rarity (common, uncommon, unusual, exceptional, masterful, and singular). The greater the rarity, the more unique traits each piece will have, including bonuses you can see when examining them. You might find that the last two rarity levels are locked.

This occurs because the item belongs to a rare category; you need to elevate it to exceptional rarity for the second-to-last level and to masterful for the highest. To do this, you must obtain the same piece multiple times. For instance, if you find a Common Execution Blade, you can either purchase it from any vendor or loot it from various sources to automatically enhance its rarity and unlock additional features.
