Dragon Ball Sparking!

In Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, players can explore a wide array of fighting styles and characters. Two standout features that fans of the series are eager to master are power transformations and fusions between different fighters.

While the game offers several training tutorials, it can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming to navigate how to execute these two mechanics without additional help. This article aims to provide a straightforward guide on how to perform transformations and fusions during your gameplay in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero. Let’s get started…

Activating Transformations

Many characters in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero have unique power transformations available during fights. Notably, characters like Goku and Vegeta can switch to various Super Saiyan forms, but others like Frieza and Cell also have their own transformative capabilities.

To check if a character has transformations, look for the “Transformation Information” section when selecting them. For example, Son Goku (Z – Final) can access up to three Super Saiyan forms. Here’s how to activate a transformation:

  • First, you need to gain enough skill points during combat.
  • These points accumulate over time and are visible below your character’s image.
  • Some transformations may only require 1 point, while more advanced forms could need 2 or 3 points.
  • An upward arrow icon will appear next to your skill points when a transformation is ready to be activated.
  • To activate it, hold down the upward button on your controller’s d-pad, bringing up a menu of available transformations.
  • Finally, select the button corresponding to the transformation you wish to use.

Once you trigger a transformation, your character will change into a new form, unlocking unique techniques and abilities. You can switch between transformations during the fight, including returning to the base form by following the same steps.

Executing Fusions Between Characters

For fusions in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, not every character can fuse. This mechanic is only available when you have two compatible fighters on your team.

Characters like Goten and Trunks can combine to form Gotenks, or Goku and Vegeta can merge to create Gogeta. These pairs are valid for this feature, among others.

Fusions operate in a manner similar to transformations, and the steps to execute one are simple:

  • Ensure you have two characters capable of fusing on your team.
  • Accumulate at least one skill point (some fusions may require more).
  • When you see the upward arrow icon next to your skill points, press up on the d-pad of your controller.
  • Select the button for the fusion you want to perform.

By following these steps, your two characters will fuse, allowing you to control a “superior version” that combines their unique moves and abilities. Once you get the hang of it, this feature becomes quite accessible.

Keep in mind that for fusions, both characters must be appropriate for merging, typically from the same timeline or story arc. For example, while Goku and Vegeta can fuse, you cannot merge them if one is from the early Z saga and the other is from GT.
