Escape from Hyrule Castle in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
The main story of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom truly begins after a brief prologue where players take control of Princess Zelda and arrive at the beautiful Hyrule Castle, her home. Once there, the only immediate task is to meet with the royal highness, which unexpectedly triggers a sequence of events.
After a misunderstanding, Zelda finds herself imprisoned in the castle dungeons, initiating the game’s first unofficial mission: escaping from the castle. This guide will provide you with what you need to do to successfully complete this mission.
How to Escape from Hyrule Castle
Once you meet the fairy Tri, who visits you in your cell, and obtain her scepter, you will begin to memorize replicas of certain objects. The first step to escape your cell is to use the scepter to learn to replicate a copy of the table in the cell.
Do this and then create a copy of the table next to the wooden shelf on the left wall. This way, you can jump onto the table and make another jump to reach the shelf.
Next, create another table to reach the broken wall opening that connects to the adjacent cell.
Jump into the adjoining cell and head through the open door to the corridor. Avoid the right side where guards are stationed. Take the left path to find yourself in a corridor with a guard standing between shelves.
Create three tables to form a staircase (one next to two stacked together) to climb to the top of the furniture and evade the guard’s line of sight. Proceed left until you find a set of wooden boxes that you can memorize with your scepter.
In the next area, there are two patrolling guards. Use the boxes to “block” their path and even their vision. Place a box as shown in the image and navigate the area from above while the guards remain unaware of your presence.
After advancing a bit, you’ll spot two guards with their backs turned, engaged in conversation. You can sneak behind them while creating replicas of boxes for cover. Climb the ladder and memorize the replica of the royal jugs.
Next, descend to the left area and create a copy of a jug to pick it up and throw it into a corner. The noise will distract the guard, allowing you to slip by in the opposite direction. Continue past this room until you encounter Impa, who will give you the diary.
This officially activates the mission “The Mystery of the Breaches”, but you still need to exit the castle to get started. In the following room, you must learn to replicate the decorative shrub.
Afterward, ascend the ladder to the top of the furniture and head left towards a series of shrubs with a gap between them.
From the edge, create two copies of shrubs to cross to the other side. Move forward a bit and do not descend the next staircase. Approach the edge on the left.
Create two more shrubs to reach the furniture with two beds. Memorize their replica and now create two more beds, stacked on top of each other, to reach the window leading to an outdoor courtyard.
Once outside in the courtyard, simply jump into the well on the left. You will descend into an area called the “Royal Shortcut”, which has water. Swim through to the other side. Advance until you encounter the replica of the heavy rock. Push the rock to drop it into the water.
Climb onto the wooden box floating in the water and create several copies of boxes to reach the ledge on the left. Soon, you will encounter three boxes floating in the water that block your path.
Create a copy of the heavy rock on top of one of them to sink it below, then dive and swim upwards to exit the shortcut.
In the next room, you must escape from a huge breach that starts to form. Simply run and leap into the water aqueduct on the right to end up at Sudelian Beach.
Having successfully escaped the castle, you can now proceed with the mission “The Mystery of the Breaches”, which is the first “official” quest in the game.
