Preparing for Captain Wise-Voice

Captain Wise-Voice can be found shortly after reaching the shrine known as ‘Mani Wheel‘ in the Pagoda Realm. Accessing the small chamber where the battle occurs requires defeating this boss.

Given that Captain Wise-Voice employs lightning-based attacks that induce the Shock status, it’s advisable to stock up on Shock-Quelling Powder. Additionally, if you have previously assisted Xu Dog in Chapter 2, you can trade your Mind Cores to enhance your shock resistance through the creation of Celestial Medicines.

As part of the Pagoda Realm prisoner quest, Captain Wise-Voice is one of three captains you must defeat. It’s also beneficial to consider battling Captain Lotus-Vision, an optional boss that can be encountered prior to confronting Wise-Voice.

Strategies to Defeat Captain Wise-Voice

In the initial phase of the battle, Captain Wise-Voice primarily relies on physical attacks, attempting to ram or crush you with its massive head. While it may seem intuitive to target its head, focus on attacking its feet, particularly the one marked with red indicators. This strategy will yield better results.

The boss can also perform a jump attack, trying to stomp you. However, dodging this attack is relatively easy, allowing you to maneuver beneath its legs and unleash combos to build up focus. Be cautious of its roar, which slows time and reduces your health, prompting a defensive approach during these moments.

Utilizing spells like Immobilize or Wind Tamer early in the fight can provide a significant advantage. These spells will help you build focus more effectively. When an opportunity arises, spend your focus points on a heavy attack using the Smash or Thrust Stance. This powerful strike can stun Captain Wise-Voice, causing it to topple to the ground.

Second Phase Strategy

Once its health is reduced to half, Captain Wise-Voice will enter its second phase, where it begins to unleash lightning attacks. Initially, it will charge energy on the ground before slamming its head down, creating an area of effect shockwave. As the battle progresses, a shift in music will signal the transition into a more aggressive attack pattern, marked by a barrage of laser beams.

During this phase, focus on evading the beams of light that track your movements. The ground will glow, indicating danger, so remain agile. When the arena lights up crimson, switch to Pillar Stance and hold a heavy attack to balance on your staff, allowing you to avoid damage. If afflicted by Shock, use Shock-Quelling Powder at this moment.

After this attack subsides, Captain Wise-Voice will need time to recharge before continuing its lightning assaults. It will still employ physical attacks and the time-slowing roar. If you cast Immobilize during this time, it will negate the effects of its roar and provide an opening for you to unleash your combos.

Continue targeting its legs whenever possible to build focus and Qi. If you used Wind Tamer earlier, you might find your Qi restored, allowing you to buff your defense once again.
