How to beat Mogryph in Zelda Echoes of Wisdom
Understanding how to defeat Mogryph in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is crucial for completing the Gerudo Sanctum Dungeon, which is part of the main storyline in A Rift in Gerudo Desert.
This boss battle consists of multiple phases. The initial two phases are quite similar, but the third phase introduces a slight change in the room layout, requiring you to adjust your strategy accordingly.
Here’s a detailed guide on how to beat Mogryph in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.
How to Beat Mogryph in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
To successfully defeat Mogryph, you must lure it into the statues scattered around the room and attack while it is dazed.
Phase One and Two
Be cautious of Mogryph’s paw swipe attack, which unleashes a wave of sand. You can easily avoid damage by not standing directly in front of the incoming sand. Watch for Mogryph to slightly pull back a paw as a warning sign.
Mogryph behaves like a giant mole, often burrowing into the sand and resurfacing elsewhere. To capitalize on this, position yourself near one of the statues, ensuring that Mogryph collides with it when it surfaces or charges at you, causing self-damage.
Once Mogryph is stuck in the sand after hitting the statue, switch to Swordfighter form and unleash your attacks. You will need to repeat this strategy to clear both phase one and two.
Phase Three
In the final phase, the battlefield will feature four distinct sand blocks, and Mogryph will gain wings. Fortunately, some Energy will appear for you to collect before proceeding.
Now airborne, Mogryph can create tornadoes. The best way to avoid these is to stay close to the edges of the room. Once a tornado forms, it will follow your direction, so maintaining your distance is key.
Mogryph will also dive into the sand, swimming around and then leaping out like a shark. Look for ripples in the sand as a warning to dodge its attacks effectively.
During this phase, you’ll need to use one of the Statue Echoes collected in the dungeon and place it on one of the four solid sand blocks—placing it elsewhere will cause it to sink. Lure Mogryph into the statue to ensure it hits its head and becomes dazed once again.
When Mogryph is stuck, unleash your attacks to wear it down. You will need to repeat this process twice in phase three to finally defeat Mogryph.
Upon defeating Mogryph, you will earn a Heart Container and successfully complete the Gerudo Sanctum Dungeon. Congratulations on your victory!
