How to beat Shigandang in Black Myth: Wukong

In Chapter 2 of Black Myth: Wukong, players can wake up and challenge Shigandang, one of the secret Yaoguai King bosses. However, this boss is hidden, and locating them requires more than just exploring the game world. To summon Shigandang, players must find all 6 Buddha’s Eyeballs and bring them to a special stone in the boss arena near the Rockrest Flat shrine. Below, we explain how to prepare for this fight and how to defeat Shigandang.

How to Prepare for Shigandang

First and foremost, you must complete the Buddha’s Eyeballs side quest. Shigandang will not appear unless you have delivered all 6 Buddha’s Eyeballs, so make sure to search the Fright Cliff region for these items. Once this is done, it’s time to gear up for the battle.

Shigandang employs numerous area attacks and is resistant to certain damage types like fire and poison. Therefore, focusing on normal attacks is your best bet. Ensure that you have the strongest staff crafted before the encounter. At this stage in the game, you should have enough materials to create the Wind Bear Staff, which not only increases your damage but also boosts your critical damage.

If dodging Shigandang’s attacks is difficult, consider crafting Evil Repelling Medicament. This consumable raises your defense for a limited time, making it a valuable asset during the fight.

A unique trick can give you an edge in the battle. Before facing Shigandang, go to the Stone Vanguard’s boss arena and deliver the eyeballs to a large rock on your right. This will awaken Shigandang, who will then fight the Stone Vanguard for you. Note that this strategy only works if you haven’t defeated the Stone Vanguard yet, allowing you to weaken Shigandang before the actual fight.

How to Beat Shigandang

When fighting Shigandang, managing your stamina is crucial to evading attacks while landing your own combos. Although Shigandang possesses immense power, their attacks are extremely slow, making them relatively easy to dodge. Staying behind Shigandang is advisable, as this position minimizes the risk of being hit and allows you to avoid their attacks effectively.

Shigandang will frequently attempt to hit you with their hands and feet. While these attacks are manageable, be cautious of two particular moves:

  • When Shigandang performs a jump attack and punches the ground, this is often followed by spikes emerging from the ground. Prepare to dodge as they impact.
  • If they raise an arm and a leg to hit the ground, be ready to dodge again when the ground begins to glow, as a follow-up attack will occur.

Taking hits from both moves can be lethal, so stay vigilant. Additionally, Shigandang has two variations of a body smash attack. The first is a frontal smash that creates a shock wave, which can hit you even from a distance. The second occurs when Shigandang leans and drops their body toward you, typically when you’re beside or behind them. Avoid this attack to create an opportunity to strike back.

Shigandang may also utilize a three-punch combo or a short sweep attack, though these are less common. If dodging seems impossible, you can use Immobilize to prevent Shigandang from attacking, allowing for a perfect chance to unleash longer combos.

Shigandang Rewards

Defeating Shigandang rewards you with valuable items. After the battle, you will gain 1652 experience points and 1364 Will, as well as three Silks and one Heart of Stone, which is essential for crafting a new staff for the Destined One.

Moreover, you will also receive a Mind Core, a rare material useful for crafting medicine, and a Skandha of Feeling, a key item that can be exchanged later in the game for special rewards.

Congratulations on completing the Buddha’s Eyeball quest and defeating this secret boss. Now, it’s time to continue your journey in Chapter 2 of Black Myth: Wukong and prepare to face the final boss of this area, the formidable Yellow Wind Sage.
