How to get Wiglett in Pokémon Go

Wiglett and its evolution, Wugtrio, introduced in Gen 9, have recently made their debut in Pokémon Go as part of the World of Wonders season.

Although Wiglett resembles Diglett, it is not a regional variant like Alolan Diglett; instead, it is a distinct Pokémon. Wiglett has its own lore and can only be caught in specific Pokémon Go biomes.

How to get Wiglett in Pokémon Go

Wiglett only spawns in the beach biome of Pokémon Go. If you want to catch a Wiglett, you will need to visit one of these biomes. A good way to confirm whether you are in the right location is to attempt to catch any Pokémon; if the background for that Pokémon is a beach scene, you are in the correct area!

However, be aware that Wiglett is a rare spawn, so keep a close eye on your Pokémon radar in the bottom right corner. Even living near a beach, you may find it difficult to encounter Wiglett frequently. Personally, I have only spotted one Wiglett so far, despite multiple attempts at different times.

If you do not live near a beach or want to verify whether a nearby location qualifies as a beach biome, you can use the OSM tool. Paste the following code into the tool and click ‘Run’. Just ensure you are viewing the area you want to check for a beach biome before running the code!

How to evolve Wiglett into Wugtrio in Pokémon Go

To evolve Wiglett into Wugtrio, you will need 50 Wiglett Candy.

Since Wiglett can be challenging to find, even in beach areas, it’s wise to use a Pinap Berry, preferably a Silver one, when attempting to catch it. This will double the amount of candy you receive upon catching Wiglett. You can also gain additional Wiglett Candy by utilizing Rare Candy or by having a Wiglett as your buddy Pokémon.
