No, Arceus won’t be included in Pokémon Go Tour: Sinnoh

Arceus, known as the god Pokémon, will not be making an appearance in Pokémon Go during the upcoming Go Tour: Sinnoh. This decision has sparked considerable debate among fans, and the confirmation from developer Niantic has clarified the situation. As a result, this year’s Go Tour: Sinnoh will mark the first time players cannot complete their Pokédex for the Sinnoh region during one of Pokémon Go’s popular annual Tour events.

In addition to Arceus, two other Sinnoh species will also be missing from the event: the Mythical Pokémon Manaphy and its counterpart Phione.

In a recent statement, Niantic expressed that these three Pokémon are “extra special” and will receive dedicated attention when they eventually join the game. A spokesperson from Niantic stated, “We wanted to give them some dedicated space when they eventually make their Pokémon GO debut.”

Arceus is one of the most anticipated Pokémon yet to be introduced into Pokémon Go. Known for its immense power, Arceus holds the title of the god of all Pokémon and possesses the unique ability to change into any Pokémon Type (such as Fire, Water, Grass, etc.) by utilizing a series of special “plates.” It recently featured prominently in Pokémon’s main series games, particularly in the RPG Pokémon Legends: Arceus on Nintendo Switch.

While Manaphy and Phione may not be as widely recognized, their Mythical status in Pokémon lore makes them noteworthy. Notably, Phione is unique as it is the only Pokémon that can be obtained by breeding a Mythical creature, which is Manaphy.

Previous Tour events have enabled players to complete their Pokédex entries for the respective regions. For instance, last year saw the final creature from the Hoenn region make its debut just ahead of Go Tour: Hoenn.

This year’s Go Tour: Sinnoh will introduce Origin Forme Dialga and Palkia from Pokémon Legends: Arceus, along with new gameplay mechanics known as Adventure Effects. These effects will allow players to expand the radius for Pokémon spawns or pause the countdown for in-game boosts such as Incense, Lucky Eggs, and Star Pieces.
