Pokémon Go Adventure Week Collection Challenges, research tasks and bonuses
Adventure Week is a beloved event in Pokémon Go that highlights Fossil Pokémon alongside a variety of Rock and Ground-types. Players are presented with numerous Collection Challenges to complete during this exciting event, along with exclusive research tasks and bonuses.
This year’s Adventure Week also features the Adventure Week: Taken Over segment, where Team Rocket makes another attempt to control Pokémon Go. As with previous events of this nature, players can expect a new Special Research quest, changes to Team Rocket Leaders’ lineups, and more surprises.
Ancient Discoveries Collection Challenge Pokémon List
The Ancient Discoveries Collection Challenge is available for completion until the event’s conclusion. It is essential to finish this challenge before the deadline to earn all associated rewards.
Two of the Pokémon required for this challenge can only be obtained through evolution, so catching them via trade will not count. Ensure to utilize Pinap Berries when catching their pre-evolutions for extra Candy.
- Kabuto – Found in the wild or through seasonal research tasks (‘Make 3 Great Throws’ and ‘Make 5 Great Curveball Throws’)
- Kabutops – Evolve Kabuto using 50 Kabuto Candy
- Aerodactyl – Available in the wild or through seasonal research tasks (‘Win 5 Raids’)
- Omanyte – Found in the wild or through seasonal research tasks (‘Make 3 Great Throws’ and ‘Make 5 Great Curveball Throws’)
- Omastar – Evolve Omanyte using 50 Omanyte Candy
Completing this challenge rewards players with 2500 Stardust, 25 Mega Aerodactyl Energy, and an encounter with Anorith.
Dig It Collection Challenge Pokémon List
The Dig It Collection Challenge is also available throughout the Adventure Week event. To earn all rewards, players must complete this challenge before the event ends.
Similar to the Ancient Discoveries challenge, two Pokémon within this challenge must be obtained through evolution. It is crucial to catch their pre-evolutions using Pinap Berries to maximize Candy acquisition.
- Drilbur – Found in the wild or through event-exclusive research tasks (‘Spin 10 PokéStops or Gyms’)
- Excadrill – Evolve Drilbur using 50 Drilbur Candy
- Dunsparce – Available in the wild or through event-exclusive research tasks (‘Catch 10 Rock-type Pokémon’)
- Diglett – Found in the wild or through seasonal research tasks (‘Catch 7 different species of Pokémon’ or ‘Make 5 Nice Throws’)
- Dugtrio – Evolve Diglett using 50 Diglett Candy
Players completing this challenge will receive 2500 Stardust, 25 Mega Aerodactyl Energy, and an encounter with Lileep.
Adventure Week Field Research Tasks
Event-exclusive research tasks can be collected by spinning PokéStops during Adventure Week. These tasks can be saved for later completion, allowing players to gather rewards that assist in finishing the Collection Challenges.
- Catch 10 Rock-type Pokémon – Rewards Dunsparce or Roggenrola encounter
- Evolve a Pokémon – Rewards Lileep, Anorith encounter, or 10 Mega Aerodactyl Energy
- Explore 2km – Rewards Cranidos, Tyrunt, or Archen encounter
- Hatch an Egg – Rewards Shieldon, Tirtouga, or Amaura encounter
- Spin 10 PokéStops or Gyms – Rewards Drilbur or Bunnelby encounter
Adventure Week Taken Over Explained
During the Adventure Week: Taken Over segment, Team Rocket will have a heightened presence from the start of the event until its conclusion. Players will encounter Team Rocket Grunts more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons.
Additionally, Charged TMs can be used to make Shadow Pokémon forget the Frustration Charged Attack. A new Team Rocket Special Research quest titled Adventure Week: Taken Over will also be available, allowing trainers to battle Giovanni and potentially catch Shadow Cresselia upon victory.
Expect changes in the lineups for both Team Rocket Grunts and Leaders, which will require players to adapt their strategies. New Shadow Pokémon will be introduced, including:
- Shadow Timburr (can evolve into Shadow Gurdurr and Shadow Conkeldurr)
- Shadow Tirtouga (can evolve into Shadow Carracosta)
- Shadow Archen (can evolve into Shadow Archeops)
Shadow Raids will also feature Shadow Lugia for a limited time during this event.
Everything We Know About Adventure Week
This year’s Adventure Week runs until the end of the event, featuring various bonuses. Players will receive double XP from spinning PokéStops and five times XP when spinning a PokéStop for the first time. Double XP will also be awarded for hatching Pokémon, and there will be an increased chance of encountering shiny versions of specific Pokémon.
Throughout Adventure Week, the following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild:
- Diglett
- Omanyte
- Kabuto
- Aerodactyl
- Dunsparce
- Roggenrola
- Drilbur
- Bunnelby
Players can also hatch special Pokémon from 7km eggs collected during this week, including Cranidos, Shieldon, Tirtouga, Archen, Tyrunt, and Amaura.
Lastly, a paid Timed Research quest will be available for purchase during Adventure Week, offering additional rewards for those who wish to invest.
