Types of Temporary Events (Tips and Tricks)
These temporary events are additions that Niantic announces in advance and rotate to keep the game lively, usually occurring each month. They offer enticing rewards.
The main piece of advice is straightforward: try to stay informed about these events. Their temporal nature makes it easy to miss them, and they bring many valuable rewards.
Community Days
During Community Days, a specific Pokémon appears in abundance for just a few hours and has a high chance of learning a unique attack or appearing in its shiny form. These days are perfect for capturing rare Pokémon you might not have, gathering lots of candies for that species, and allowing it to learn a unique move that boosts its value.
These events happen once a month and typically last only three hours, so it’s advisable to prepare in advance by stocking up on berries, lures, and Poké Balls. You don’t want to run out of these items when you head out for some Pokémon hunting.
Legendary Hours
For only a few hours on specific days, EX Raids featuring legendary Pokémon such as Mewtwo, Regigigas, or Giratina occur. These are fantastic opportunities to capture any missing legendaries from your Pokédex, as many can only be obtained during these events. Prepare your best team, study the weaknesses of the Pokémon you’re trying to catch, acquire EX Raid passes, and collaborate with friends to secure that catch.
Stellar Rain
During certain dates, the world fills with stardust, and the amount of stardust obtained is multiplied by two. These events can last about a week and are ideal for gathering stardust. When they occur, focus your efforts on activities that yield stardust, such as hatching eggs, catching numerous Pokémon, participating in raids, or completing field and special research tasks. And remember, if you have any star pieces, use them to further multiply your stardust gains for 30 minutes.
The Supereffective Week
Typically lasting a week, Niantic increases the spawn rate of Pokémon that are particularly effective against current threats in the game. Since there are many types of Pokémon, each can be more or less effective against others in battles. The Supereffective Week is perfect for capturing a large quantity of Pokémon that are very effective against the challenges presented during that time, such as a Team GO Rocket event or specific raids.
Friendship Festival
For several days, extra bonuses activate for player trades, and there’s an increase in the appearance of certain Pokémon families in the wild and in research tasks. During Friendship Festivals, you can enjoy bonuses like reduced stardust costs for trades, the ability to make two special trades per day, and enhanced attack power in raids when participating with friends.
Evolution Event
This event focuses on Pokémon evolutions. It can last a week and features a greater abundance of Pokémon with unique or rare evolutions, both in the wild and from eggs. Additionally, certain raids may temporarily feature specific Pokémon that are otherwise difficult to capture. There are also bonuses such as double experience for evolutions and more evolution items available as rewards, including evolution stones and lure modules.
Sincroaventura Hatchathon
This event aims to leverage the Sincroaventura feature in Pokémon GO, which allows players to accumulate walking distance even when the game is closed (thanks to health apps on mobile devices). During these temporary events, the rewards from Sincroaventura are greater and more special, allowing players to earn more stardust, rare candies, evolution stones, and special Pokémon when hatching eggs.
World Days and Other Specials
Occasionally, Niantic celebrates notable dates with special features, shiny Pokémon, double experience, and more. These unique and thematic events can be a great opportunity for trainers to enhance their skills. Expect surprises during events like Christmas, Halloween, Ultrabonus, and international days. Remember to apply what you’ve learned and give your best effort to secure fantastic rewards.
In Pokémon GO, there are also unique live events that occur in specific cities around the world. The main difference is that temporary events happen for all players simultaneously, allowing everyone to access the benefits and rewards.
