Pokémon Go finally confirms its gigantic Dynamax feature

After numerous leaks, Pokémon Go developer Niantic has finally unveiled the game’s highly-anticipated next season, Max Out, which introduces more Gen 8 creatures along with the exciting new Dynamax feature.

New Gen 8 Pokémon Arrive

At the start of the upcoming season, Gen 8 Starter Pokémon that debuted in Pokémon Sword and Shield will make their way to Pokémon Go. This includes the Grass-type monkey Grookey, the Fire-type rabbit Scorbunny, the Water-type Sobble, as well as the Dragon-type Dreepy and the Stonehenge-inspired Stonjourner, which will be a regional exclusive for players in the UK.

Shiny Variants Launch

Previously released Gen 8 Pokémon Skwovet and Wooloo will also become available in their Shiny forms, adding more excitement for collectors and trainers alike.

Dynamax Feature Explained

The introduction of Dynamax will provide a new method for releasing Pokémon in the game, similar to the previous introduction of Shadow Pokémon. Only new Pokémon caught from Max Battles, along with their evolutions, will have the ability to Dynamax, encouraging players to actively collect these new creatures as they are released.

Max Battles Begin

Max Battles will commence featuring Pokémon such as Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Skwovet, and Wooloo, with more to be added throughout the season. These encounters are expected to be simpler battles, with no current indication of Legendary Dynamax Pokémon being involved.

Combining Features

In a briefing, it was announced that Pokémon capable of Mega Evolving will also be able to Dynamax, allowing trainers to capture new Dynamax-capable Pokémon that possess both abilities.

New Game Locations

The addition of Dynamax will also bring a new type of location to the game map called Power Spots. These areas will be where players can enter Max Battles and collect a new resource known as Max Particles.

Future Updates

Niantic is expected to share further details on how Dynamax battles will function in the coming week, so players should stay tuned for more information. There has been no announcement regarding the arrival of Gigantamax Pokémon as of yet.

The new Max Out season for Pokémon Go is set to kick off soon, bringing with it fresh content and exciting gameplay features.
