Pokémon Go Landorus counters, weaknesses and moveset, including Therian Forme Landorus explained
Landorus, the Abundance Pokémon, can sometimes be seen floating in the world of Pokémon Go. As part of the Gen 5 Forces of Nature trio, Landorus is often referred to as ‘the good one,’ especially when compared to its counterparts, Thundurus and Tornadus, who are considered less effective in gameplay. Despite being Legendary Pokémon, Thundurus and Tornadus mainly serve as Pokédex fillers, while Landorus proves to be a valuable addition to any trainer’s lineup.
Landorus features two distinct Formes: the Incarnate Forme and the Therian Forme. To easily differentiate between the two, remember that Incarnate is the ‘sitting up’ version, while Therian resembles a ‘sky cat’ or is humorously referred to as ‘Lando Catrissian.’ Each Forme possesses unique stats and applications, which will be discussed in detail in this guide.
As with other Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Go, Landorus can be found in five-star raids. Additionally, players might encounter Landorus as a reward in the Go Battle League, depending on the current Season in Pokémon Go.
Landorus Counters and Weaknesses
Understanding Landorus’s counters and weaknesses is essential for effectively adding it to your Pokédex:
- Types: Landorus is both a Flying and Ground-type Pokémon.
- Double-Weakness: Landorus is particularly vulnerable to Ice-type attacks.
- Weaknesses: It is also weak against Water-type moves.
- Strengths: Landorus is resistant to Ground, Poison, Fighting, Electric, and Bug-type attacks.
- Top Mega Counters: Effective Mega counters include Mega Abomasnow, Mega Blastoise, Mega Gyarados, Primal Kyogre, and Mega Glalie.
- Recommended Counters: Use Mamoswine, Galarian Darmanitan, Glaceon, Mewtwo (with Ice Beam), Kyogre, and Abomasnow against Landorus. Weavile is also a strong counter but be cautious of its fragility.
- Number of Players Needed: Three Level 40 players with a good set of counters can reasonably defeat Landorus.
- Tactics: Since Landorus has a significant weakness to Ice, utilizing a strong Mega Abomasnow can boost the Ice-type Pokémon of your team, making the battle easier.
- Shiny Availability: There is a shiny variant of Landorus. If you connect with one of your Premier Balls after a raid, you’ll automatically catch the shiny if it appears. Consider using a Pinap Berry for an extra Candy boost, and don’t forget to take a screenshot!

About Landorus
Landorus serves as the master of the original Forces of Nature trio, which also includes Tornadus and Thundurus. An additional Pokémon, Enamorus, was introduced in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, expanding this group into a quartet, although it is not yet available in Pokémon Go.
As the protector of the Unova region, Landorus ensures that Tornadus and Thundurus do not cause chaos. This role led the inhabitants of the region to construct a shrine in honor of Landorus for its protection. Representing a different domain of the world, Landorus embodies the land we inhabit, safeguarding it from its fellow elemental forces.
Landorus’s design is inspired by the kami of Shinto mythology, specifically Inari Ōkami, who is associated with foxes, agriculture, rice, and fertility. The Therian Forme of Landorus was first introduced alongside the Pokémon Dream Radar app for the Nintendo 3DS.
Good luck catching Landorus, whether you’re aiming for its Incarnate or Therian Forme!
