Slumbering Sands brings the summer vibes to Pokémon Go, introducing three exciting new costume Pokémon: Visor Slakoth, Visor Vigoroth, and Visor Slaking. Players who own a Pokémon Go Plus + device can engage in the Pokémon Sleep Timed Research quest during this event, while all players can participate in various event-exclusive research tasks and the Slumbering Sands Collection Challenge. Additionally, the event marks the debut of shiny Komala in Pokémon Go.
‘Pokémon Sleep Timed Research’ Quest Steps
It’s important to note that the Pokémon Sleep Timed Research quest is exclusively available to players who possess the Pokémon Go Plus + device. Unfortunately, those without this device will not have access to this quest. The Pokémon Sleep Timed Research quest features an extended completion deadline, allowing players until Friday 14th June at 8pm (local time) to finish it.
Even if you don’t have access to this quest, you can still complete the Collection Challenge and participate in the event-exclusive field research tasks. Here are the quest steps and rewards for the Pokémon Sleep Timed Research:

- Track sleep using Pokémon Go Plus + for 1 day – Encounter with Komala
- Catch 8 Pokémon in Poké Balls using Pokémon Go Plus + – Encounter with Visor Slakoth
- Spin 8 PokéStops using Pokémon Go Plus + – Encounter with Visor Slakoth
Rewards: 1000 Stardust or a Nightcap Snorlax encounter.
Step 2 of 2
- Track sleep using Pokémon Go Plus + for 2 days – Encounter with Komala
- Catch 24 Pokémon in Poké Balls using Pokémon Go Plus + – Encounter with Visor Slakoth
- Spin 24 PokéStops using Pokémon Go Plus + – Encounter with Visor Slakoth
Rewards: 3000 Stardust or a Nightcap Snorlax encounter.
Slumbering Sands Collection Challenge Pokémon List
The Slumbering Sands Collection Challenge is available until Wednesday 12th June at 8pm (local time). To enjoy the rewards and have the challenge added to your Elite Collector Medal, you must complete it before the deadline. Note that four Pokémon in this challenge can only be obtained through evolution, meaning they won’t count if caught in the wild.
Here’s a list of the Pokémon involved in the Slumbering Sands Collection Challenge and how to find them:
- Mareep – Found in the wild, from event-exclusive research tasks, or seasonal research tasks.
- Flaaffy – Evolve Mareep using 25 Mareep Candy.
- Ampharos – Evolve Flaaffy using 100 Mareep Candy.
- Oranguru – Found in the wild or from event-exclusive research tasks.
- Sandygast – Found in the wild or from event-exclusive research tasks.
- Palossand – Evolve Sandygast using 50 Sandygast Candy.
- Drowzee – Found in the wild or from event-exclusive research tasks.
- Hypno – Evolve Drowzee using 50 Drowzee Candy.
Completing this challenge rewards you with 5000 XP, 2500 Stardust, or an encounter with Komala.
Slumbering Sands Field Research Tasks
By spinning a PokéStop during the Slumbering Sands event, players can earn event-exclusive research tasks. These tasks can be stored in your field research collection and completed after the event ends, but completing some during the event can help you with the Collection Challenge.
Here are the Slumbering Sands field research tasks:
- Catch 10 Pokémon – Reward: Encounter with Drowzee, Oranguru, or Sandygast.
- Use 5 Berries to help catch Pokémon – Reward: Encounter with Psyduck or Mareep.
- Make 3 Great Throws – Reward: Encounter with Komala.
- Take snapshots of 3 different wild Pokémon – Reward: Encounter with Visor Slakoth.
- Spin 10 PokéStops or Gyms – Reward: Encounter with Visor Slakoth or Komala.

The Slumbering Sands event runs until Wednesday 12th June at 8pm (local time), offering players one of the best bonuses in Pokémon Go: double catch XP!
One of the key Pokémon to catch during this event is the new Visor Slakoth, which can evolve into Visor Vigoroth and Visor Slaking. Players should also keep an eye out for shiny Komala, making its event debut.
