Sustainability Week is making a return to Pokémon Go in 2024, featuring exciting Collection Challenges and new field research tasks, along with various bonuses.

This year’s Sustainability Week is distinct from previous events as there will be no timed research or new Pokémon to catch. Instead, the focus is on Collection Challenges!

In this article, we will provide all the details regarding the Sustainability Week Collection Challenges to assist you in completing them before the event concludes, along with additional information about this year’s Sustainability Week.

Pokémon Go Sustainability Week Collection Challenge: Trubbish

The Sustainability Week Collection Challenge for Trubbish is available until Friday 26th April at 8pm (local time). Completing this challenge will reward you with various rewards and contribute to your Elite Collector Medal progress.

It’s crucial to note that for this Collection Challenge, evolved Pokémon must be acquired through evolution. Catching them in the wild will not count towards your progress in this challenge.

Here are the Pokémon involved in the Sustainability Week Collection Challenge: Trubbish and how you can find them:

  • Trubbish – Can be found in the wild or through a field research task (Explore 1km)
  • Garbodor – Evolve a Trubbish using 50 Trubbish Candy

Upon completion of this challenge, you’ll earn 10,000 XP and 5,000 Stardust.

Pokémon Go Sustainability Week Collection Challenge: Drilbur

The Sustainability Week Collection Challenge for Drilbur is also running until Friday 26th April at 8pm (local time). Completing this challenge will likewise earn you rewards and progress towards your Elite Collector Medal.

As with the Trubbish challenge, it’s important to remember that evolved Pokémon must also be obtained via evolution for this Collection Challenge.

Below are the Pokémon included in the Sustainability Week Collection Challenge: Drilbur, along with how to locate them:

  • Drilbur – Available in the wild or through a field research task (Explore 2km)
  • Excadrill – Evolve a Drilbur using 50 Drilbur Candy

For completing this challenge, you’ll receive 10,000 XP and 5,000 Stardust.

Sustainability Week Field Research Tasks in Pokémon Go

During the Sustainability Week event, players can spin PokéStops to collect exclusive event-themed field research tasks. These tasks can be completed during the event or saved for later completion.

Here are the field research tasks available during Sustainability Week:

  • Catch 5 Pokémon – Reward: Binacle encounter
  • Catch 10 Pokémon – Reward: Foongus encounter
  • Explore 1km – Reward: Trubbish encounter
  • Explore 2km – Reward: Drilbur encounter
  • Hatch an Egg – Reward: Combee encounter

Everything Else We Know About Sustainability Week in Pokémon Go

The Sustainability Week event runs from Monday 22nd April at 10am until Friday 26th April at 8pm (both local time). During this period, players can participate in the event’s Collection Challenges.

Sustainability Week will also introduce a new egg pool along with various bonuses.

Egg Pool

During the Sustainability Week event, the following Pokémon will be available in 2km eggs:

  • Combee
  • Drilbur
  • Trubbish
  • Foongus
  • Binacle

All of these Pokémon have the potential to be Shiny and feature a higher chance of appearing as Shiny compared to catching them in the wild or from field research rewards.

Other Bonuses

In addition to the aforementioned features, the 2024 Sustainability Week event will increase the frequency at which Buddy Pokémon bring you souvenirs and presents. Your Buddy will also remain on the map longer after being fed Berries or Poffins, and the distance needed to earn Buddy hearts will be halved.

As always, PokéStop Showcases will be available throughout the event for players who wish to participate.
