Shiny Porygon, evolution chart, 100% perfect IV stats and Porygon-Z best moveset in Pokémon Go

Porygon, known as the Virtual Pokémon, is making its way into the spotlight for January’s Community Day Classic in Pokémon Go. This recurring event celebrates a specific Pokémon, giving trainers another chance to catch them during Community Day. As always, this event comes with a variety of bonuses, including enhanced shiny rates and an exclusive move for Porygon’s final evolution, Porygon-Z!

Porygon is relatively rare outside special events, making this Community Day a fantastic opportunity to catch one and complete its evolutionary line, especially for those who missed its first Community Day in 2020 or its Spotlight Hour in November 2022.

While Porygon, Porygon2, and Porygon-Z have had their moments in competitive play and raids, they are not particularly strong in the current Pokémon Go meta. However, newer players or those who missed out on shiny variants will find this event especially appealing, as it offers a great chance to capture shiny Porygon.

Even if you aren’t particularly fond of Porygon, participating in the event can be beneficial. You can catch various Pokémon during this week’s Spotlight Hour to take advantage of the triple catch XP bonus that coincides with the event.

Porygon 100% Perfect IV Stats in Pokémon Go

This month’s Community Day Classic is an excellent opportunity to catch a Porygon with perfect IV stats. In Pokémon Go, ‘perfect’ can refer to a maxed out, 100% IV Pokémon, which is what you want for your Pokédex, raids, and Master League battles.

To identify a perfect Porygon, you should look for the following CP values based on Trainer Level:

  • Level 30 (wild CP maximum) – 1474 CP
  • Level 35 (weather-boosted wild CP maximum) – 1597 CP

What Does Porygon Evolve Into?

Porygon has two evolutions, and both require specific items to evolve. Porygon evolves into Porygon2 with 25 Porygon Candy and an Upgrade, while Porygon2 evolves into Porygon-Z with 100 Porygon Candy and a Sinnoh Stone. Therefore, you’ll need a total of 125 Porygon Candy to evolve Porygon fully.

Porygon-Z’s Best Moveset Recommendations

Porygon-Z’s optimal moveset features Lock On, Tri Attack, and Zap Cannon. Below are its moves:

Fast Moves

  • Lock On (Normal)
  • Charge Beam (Electric)
  • Hidden Power (various types)

Charged Moves

  • Zap Cannon
  • Blizzard
  • Solar Beam
  • Hyper Beam

Legacy Charged Moves

  • Tri Attack
  • Return

While Porygon-Z has a high attack stat, it lacks the bulk required for competitive play. However, Porygon2 can perform better in the Great League and Ultra League due to its defensive stats. For those leagues, the recommended moveset is also Lock On, Tri Attack, and Zap Cannon, which allows you to debuff opponents effectively.

What Do Shiny Porygon, Porygon2, and Porygon-Z Look Like?

Shiny Porygon was first introduced during its original Community Day in September 2020. The shiny variant features a darker palette where the red parts turn to a deep blue and the blue accents shift to a lilac hue, creating a visually appealing design.

Other Porygon Community Day Classic Bonuses

Community Days typically offer various bonuses, and the Porygon Community Day is no exception. While some bonuses are standard, such as increased spawns and shiny rates, others rotate. Here are the bonuses available during the Porygon Community Day:
