The Marsh Gap in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
The Marsh Gap is one of the key missions in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, which gets activated in your journal upon entering the marshland region of Jabul and the village of Riberinia. This mission is closely connected to the quest After the Vanished. In this guide, we will detail the objectives and how to complete them, ensuring you don’t get stuck along the way.
How to Complete the Marsh Gap Mission
Upon arriving at the village of Riberinia, you will discover that the deity Jabu-Jabu is experiencing bouts of rage since a gap appeared in his sanctuary. This location is found past the eastern bridge of the village, so make your way there.
Cross the bridge, and you will find yourself at a beach with a teleportation pillar located at the entrance of the estuary plaza. Climb the slope to the right of the pillar and jump into the water.
From here, swim towards the nearby earth slope and then cross the next section of water until you reach a grassy area that has another teleportation pillar. To its left, you will see the entrance to Jabu-Jabu’s sanctuary.
Once inside the sanctuary, a new objective will activate, which involves meeting the leaders of the marine and river Zoras. Start with the river Zoras by heading upstream to the north. The path is straightforward and leads to the region of the river Zoras, a sort of village with huts.
Once you arrive, head up the path to the last house in the northwest, where you will find Dradd, the leader of the river Zoras. After meeting with him, he will head to the estuary plaza.
Next, let’s go to the Zora Bay. Use a quick travel to the teleportation point at the estuary plaza and dive into the waters of the bay. Swim directly south from the plaza to find the entrance to the region inhabited by the marine Zoras. You’ll recognize it by a stone statue shaped like a fish tail. You can access it by diving through the submerged door to meet Kush, the leader of the marine Zoras.
Finally, after meeting both leaders, you need to gather with them at the estuary plaza. There, after a cutscene, you will be prompted to complete two main missions related to the one at hand:
- The River Zora Region: activates by going to the region of the river Zoras.
- Chaos in Zora Bay: activates by swimming towards the island at the far east of Zora Bay.
After finishing these two missions, you can rejoin both leaders in Jabu-Jabu’s sanctuary. Inside, rocks have fallen on the pedestals where both characters need to play their song.
Clear the rocks using your abilities and fix the left pedestal by replacing its two missing parts (one of which is submerged in a small pond of water to the left).
Once you repair the pedestals, the leaders will perform their song, and the door to the sanctuary will open. Proceed ahead to confront the false Jabu-Jabu.
Battle Against the False Jabu-Jabu
- This battle primarily involves dodging the boss’s bites and swimming away when he inhales deeply.
- In the meantime, you can create monster replicas (like the Squalonte, the Abyssal Torvo, or the Bomb Fish) to try and damage Jabu-Jabu.
- You can also defeat the monsters that appear to earn energium.
- The best strategy is to activate sword mode and swim close to Jabu-Jabu while he’s biting to strike him with your sword.
After defeating Jabu-Jabu, interact with the access point to the gap that has now appeared.
The Void of the Marshes of Jabul
The gap leads to the area known as the Void of the Marshes of Jabul, which connects to the dungeon of this region. Start by walking forward and immersing yourself in the first block of water. Ascend to the highest central stone column, and from there, create a replica of a flying tile to soar towards the trees on the right.
This will allow you to reach the next block of water and dive upwards. Once there, head to the right, pass the pond with fish, and memorize the water block using the scepter. This replica will help you progress through this area by creating “bridges” of water blocks to cross between platforms or to ascend.
The path is quite linear, but be cautious of the enemies along the way. We’ll mark on the map where you need to reach, to a platform shaped like a whale.
Crossing over this whale will allow you to enter the Ruins of Jabul, the dungeon of the region.
