The volcano breach in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

The Volcano Breach is one of the main missions in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, closely linked to the quest Las brechas de las Diosas. This mission will activate in your journal when you arrive at the Eldin Volcano Trail, located north of Kakariko Village, after you have completed the dungeon at the Hyrule Castle. In this guide, we will detail the objectives and steps to complete this mission, ensuring you won’t get stuck along the way.

How to Complete the Volcano Breach Mission

The mission kicks off with the goal of finding a spot to create a portal that leads to the breach in the volcano. The Goron will be your allies in this task, so you need to ascend the Eldin Volcano Trail, which is filled with monsters, making your way to Goron City.

The path to the city is quite straightforward and easy to follow. You will first traverse a cave populated with Zora enemies. After exiting, you will need to climb rocky walls until you enter another cave that contains a few Airin enemies and vents that emit gusts of wind.

Remember to memorize one of the Airin with your staff so you can extinguish the torches located along your path in front of a climbable wall. Alternatively, you can use the replica of the air cannon for this purpose. After leaving the cave, continue climbing and move right to reach the entrance of Goron City, where a Goron will invite you to enter.

Inside Goron City, you will need to create a portal to the breach that connects to the Void Zone of Goron City.

Exploring the Void Zone of Goron City

As usual, you must find the Tri companions. This task is relatively easy, and you will be looking for just four companions this time:

  • Companion #01: From the start, ascend the rocks on the right and enter the statue shaped like a Goron. In the 2D room, use bomb fish to destroy the cracked blocks and reach the bottom where the companion group is located.
  • Companion #02: From the start, jump across the stones on the left to find this second group without any trouble.
  • Companion #03: Move left from the Goron statue and climb the rocky wall to a ledge above, where this third group is situated.
  • Companion #04: From the previous group’s location, you should see this fourth group in the distance on a floating platform.

Two New Main Missions in the Volcano

After repairing the breach, exit Goron City, and you will receive two new objectives; each is tied to two new main missions that we will address in their respective sections.

Finding the Secret Shortcut to the Eldin Temple

Once you complete the previous missions, return to Goron City. Enter the chief’s house and use your binding ability to grab the screw on the right side of the portrait. Pull it back to cause the wall with the portrait to collapse, revealing a secret shortcut door leading to the Eldin Temple. You will then need to cross a lava lake.

To do this, create a replica of a Keese, grab it, and jump over to the other side. The bat will fly, allowing you to cross safely without getting burned.

In the next room, you’ll need to do something similar. Create a replica of a Keese and hold it to float over the air streams that will lift you up. Proceed to the higher ground, and here you will need to use replicas of volcanic rocks to navigate past the lava.

Ultimately, you will create a volcanic rock on top of a lava jet to climb up to a ladder leading to a 2D room. In this room, you will need to follow the same approach of creating volcanic rocks above the lava to move left.

Near the end, where several rocks are clustered together, create a replica on top of the tallest lava jet (when it has descended) to ascend to an exit.

Cross the bridge to find a rock blocking your way. Darston will appear to break it. After this, you will reach the breach that leads to the Void Zone of Eldin Volcano.

Traversing this zone is fairly simple because, even though there is a lot of lava, it is suspended in time. You can once again use volcanic rocks to cross. The path itself is straightforward, just continue progressing until you reach an area with holes emitting air streams.

Here, you need to use a Keese to fly to the right and reach the entrance of the Temple of Eldin, the dungeon of this region. After completing it, the mission concerning the volcano will come to an end.
